Frances “Fran” G. Murr, 86, of Logansport, passed away at home Friday evening surrounded by family. Just a day earlier, she had received the diagnosis of acute lymphoma leukemia which progressed more rapidly than anyone expected. The date, January 27, 2023, was Fran’s day to meet Jesus, her Lord and Savior. And she was ready.

Born on the Fourth of July in 1936 in Martinsburg, West Virginia, Fran was the daughter of the late Palmer James and Freda Coyle (Jones) Ingram.

On July 22, 1953, in Sharpsburg, Maryland, she was married to Lloyd “Lou” W. Murr, who preceded her in death February 1, 2008.

Following her graduation from high school, Fran felt the calling to become a nurse. Fran earned her diploma from Ivy Tech and began her career as an LPN. For many years, she worked at Logansport Memorial Hospital and served as Dr. Ed Wilson’s nurse at Logan Internists.

Fran was a faithful member of Church of the Good Shepherd at 8th & Broadway where she served as secretary of the JOY Circle.

She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary. Fran enjoyed volunteering at Logansport Memorial Hospital in her retirement years. Fran was also an avid bowler and she loved to travel.

Fran may have been tiny in stature, but her heart was large and full of love. With her shining eyes, that beautiful smile and just enough Southern accent left from her youth, her gentleness was charming, and she was endeared as a friend to many. The mother of 7, Fran cherished her role as the matriarch of a beautiful family. She was proud of them all and they knew they were blessed with a wonderful mother.
