William “Bill” A. Corn

cornWilliam “Bill” A. Corn, 63, of Logansport, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at North Woods Village in Kokomo.

Born on October 28, 1951 in Logansport, he was the son of Asa Alfred and Betty L. (Kilgas) Corn.

Bill retired as a teacher in 2011 after twenty years of teaching at Logansport Community Schools. Prior to teaching Bill worked for Wilson Foods and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He also currently worked part-time at O’Rilleys Auto Parts and Small Parts.

Bill was a member of the Peru Moose Lodge #249, American Legion Post #60, Disabled American Veterans and the Knights of Columbus.  Bill was very proud of serving his country as a Marine during the Vietnam War. He was an avid coin collector and history enthusiast. Bill enjoyed fishing, walking and volunteering with athletics.  He was a 1969 graduate of Logansport High School and received his graduate degrees from Indiana University and Purdue University.

Surviving is a son, Andrew W. Corn and wife Yael Herbstman, Tumwater, WA; daughter, Allison R. Corn  and fiancée Hunter Peterson, Spokane, WA; mother, Betty Corn; brother, John “Jack” Corn; Gerald “Jerry” Corn, all of Logansport; grandson, Archer Corn; several nieces and nephews.

His father Asa Corn preceded him in death.

A graveside service with full Military Rites will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 p.m. on Monday March 2, in the Gundrum Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
