Ella D. Harris, 65, Logansport, was called home to Heaven on Saturday, October 7, 2023, following a lengthy battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Born December 19, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Eller and Eva Hope (Wilson) Harris.
A 1976 graduate of Logansport High School, Ella continued her studies at Indiana University – Kokomo. She earned certification as an EMT and worked for Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed animals and had previously worked at Shell Animal Clinic. Ella retired from Matthew Warren after several years of employment as a press operator.
She was a member of the Church of God and her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, gave her strength throughout her life. Family meant the world to her, and she was blessed with to see her grandchildren grow up. She enjoyed keeping in touch with friends and family on Facebook. Ella had a large Indian collection as well as a porcelain doll collection.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Angel Hopper, Logansport; sisters, Margaret Wilson, Wilmore, Kentucky, and Joan Houk, Hamilton, Ohio, stepsister, Becky Hettinger Hunnicutt, stepsister, Pam Hettinger Drake; five grandchildren, Matthew Selleck, Codi Hopper, Elijah Hopper, Josiah Hopper, and, Donnavyn DeFord Norris; a great-granddaughter, Nalia Rae; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Franklin Norris; her mother and stepfather, Eva and Raymond Hettinger; her father, Eller Harris; brother, Harold Landrum; brothers-in-law, Robert Overbey and Glenn Wilson; niece, Eva Jean Wilson; and nephew, Roger Wilson.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, October 12 in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service celebrating Ella’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. October 13 in the funeral chapel.
Interment will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
