John W. Dixon, 85, of Walton, went home to be with the Lord at 11:55 p.m.  Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.   John was born July 16, 1940, in Kokomo to William A. and Nora J. (Rhine) Dixon.   He married the love of his life, Connie K. Ronk on December 10, 1958, in Galveston and she preceded him in death on July 8, 2022.

John was a lifelong farmer and was devoted to his children and grandchildren.  He was a member of Galveston First Baptist Church for many years serving as an Elder, Trustee and Deacon.  John and Connie had also been members of the Lincoln United Methodist Church where John taught Sunday School and Connie played piano and organ at the church.  John was a basketball coach for Lewis Cass and enjoyed playing fast pitch softball for many years.  He was also one of the first members of the Cass County 4H Club and was instrumental in introducing his children and grandchildren to 4H as they became of age to participate.

Surviving family include daughter-in-law, Kathy Dixon, his children, Karen (Chris) Keisling, Nieta (Terry) Merrell, and Kyle (Kristi) Dixon.  Surviving grandchildren include, Cam (Kristin) Dixon, Jessica (David) Kassebaum, Jonathan (Abby) Keisling, Matteson (Kyle) Williams, Austin (Katie) Keisling, Dustin (Briyanni) Merrell, Karlie (Rob) Wright, Kira Archer, Klair (Nolan) Mader, Hayden Vest, Kalyn (Eli) King, Carson Vest, Emma Dixon and Jacob Dixon.  Great grandchildren are Harper Dixon,  Cooper Dixon, Ezra Kassebaum, Ellie Kassebaum, Caleb Kassebaum,  Nora Keisling, Ketsiah Keisling, Brinley Merrell, Kasynn Merrell, Brecken Merrell, Rush Wright, Noah Williams, Elizabeth Keisling and one great grandchild on the way.  John is preceded in death by his parents, wife Connie, and son Chris.

A celebration of John’s life will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Murray Weaver Funeral Home with Bruce Knott officiating.  Burial will follow in the Galveston Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to service time at noon at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Cancer Society in John’s memory.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dixon family.  www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
