LOGANSPORT, Ind. — Mayor Chris Martin has announced his resignation as Mayor of the City of Logansport after six years of service, marking the close of a chapter defined by personal commitment, community partnership, and transformational progress across the city.
“As of this day, I have resigned my position as Mayor of the City of Logansport effective March 30, 2026,” said Mayor Martin. “This is not an easy decision. I have wanted to be the Mayor of my hometown since I was 15 years old. To serve the people of Logansport in this role has been one of the greatest honors of my life. But after much reflection, I know I have accomplished all I can do myself in this position, and it is time to move forward for myself and my family.”
Mayor Martin’s final day in office will be March 29, 2026. He will begin his next chapter as the Huntington County United Economic Development Director on March 30, 2026.
During Mayor Martin’s tenure, Logansport experienced significant momentum in infrastructure, housing, quality of place, downtown development, and long-term community investment. Among the many visible signs of progress were major street and sidewalk improvements, continued redevelopment along the riverfront, the opening of the Vibrant Event Center, and new momentum tied to development along the Eel River corridor.
The city also advanced major housing and redevelopment efforts, including redevelopment planning for the former Trelleborg site, blight removal efforts, and projects that helped create new opportunities for future housing and neighborhood investment. Additional progress included momentum in residential planning, downtown redevelopment, park improvements, and long-term community revitalization efforts.
Downtown and community development initiatives also helped reshape the city’s future. Logansport Reimagined highlights projects such as the permanent farmer’s market and commercial incubator kitchen, downtown investment, Dykeman Park improvements, business redevelopment activity, and continued efforts to strengthen quality of life and economic opportunity throughout the community.
Mayor Martin emphasized that the city’s growth was not the work of one person alone.
“Without the thousands of people who believed in this community, the strong leadership in every city department, and the push for change from people across Logansport, we could not have made the historic growth we have seen,” Martin said. “This progress belongs to the people of Logansport.”
He added that while leaving office is difficult, his love for the city remains unchanged.
“Logansport will always be home,” Martin said. “I leave this office with gratitude, pride, and hope. I am thankful for every city employee, every department leader, every community partner, and every resident who believed that our city’s best days were still ahead. It has been the honor of my life to serve as your mayor.”
Additional information regarding the transition process will be shared separately.
Upon my resignation Jacob Pomasl our current Deputy Mayor will assume the duties of Mayor until the position is filled by a Caucus of the Cass County Republican Party.
