Marion E. Bell, 78, of Logansport, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 6, 2026, at his home. .

Born August 5, 1947, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Marion E, Sr. and Dorothy (Rupe) Bell .

In 1968, he was married to Virginia (Rance) Bell. She preceded in death April 4, 2023.

A 1967, he graduated from Logansport High School. He earned his Associates of Science dregree in Electronic from Ivy Tech.

Marion was retired from his career as an electrician. He was also a licensed amateur radio operator and an active member of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) as well as a life member of the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (AMSAT), as well as the Cass County Amateur Radio Club.

His faith was a big part of what kept him going. He stayed active at Main Street Community Church, where fellow church members were ike family to him. He was also a life member of the National Rifle Association. And at the end of the day, he loved his family – right down to his cats, who were never far from his side.

Surviving are his son, Marion E. Bell III; his sister, Veronica Lear; and several extended family members: Dorothy Smolek, Margaret (James) Ross, Rick Rance, Karen (Virgil) Henry, Jackie (Alvin) Cody, Kim (Kevin) DuVall, and Bob Artist; and several nieces, nephews, and his goddaughter.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Bell; and his sisters, Nettie Sargeant, Diane Williams and Gloria Artist.

A funeral service celebrating Marion’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 10, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Thomas officiating. A “Last Call” radio silence with fellow ham operators all over the world will be a part of the service.

Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday.
