Paul James Malott, 91, of Rochester, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born November 21, 1934, in Logansport, Indiana, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Henning) Malott.

On July 12, 1957, in Logansport, Paul married the love of his life, Marilyn (Herd) Malott. For 68 years, their marriage stood as a quiet, steady example of what devotion looks like. Anyone blessed to know them could see the depth of their bond.

Paul proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning home, he built a long career at RBM as a skilled tool and die maker.

He was happiest outdoors, especially when fishing or boating. Whether spending winters on the water in Florida or summers on Lake Manitou, Paul felt closest to Heaven with a rod in his hand and the sun on his shoulders.

A wonderful storyteller, Paul had a gift for making people laugh. His best moments were the ones spent surrounded by family and friends-those were the times he lived for.

Surviving with his wife, Marilyn, is one daughter, Julie Werner; one son, Jeff Malott; six much-loved grandchildren, Mitch Werner, Brya Werner, Elliot Werner, Alyssa Malott, and Tara Malott; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Mariah Malott; one sister, Sharon Sue Burch; and his infant brother, Jerry Malott.

Arrangements are pending.
