Shirley Elaine Foreman, 69, of Walton, Indiana passed away on April 30, 2026, surrounded by her family after a brief and private battle with cancer.
Born in Logansport, she was the daughter of Ben and Virginia (Haynes) DeHaven, who preceded her in death.
A 1974 graduate of Lewis Cass High School, Shirley went on to receive her degree from Purdue University.
In 1978, she married Randy Foreman at Blue Ball Church in Walton.
Before retiring Shirley served over 40 years as the executive director of the Peru Housing Authority and was a long-time member of the Peru Rotary Club. She spent many years as the chair of the “Shoes that Fit” Program supporting students at local schools, directing and cheering on runners at the annual Cole Porter Classic, and volunteering for the annual Spellathon.
As part of Walton Christian Church, Shirley’s faith sustained her throughout her short fight with cancer and gave her peace as she prepared to journey home.
Shirley loved spending her summers outside and in the garden. She found joy in the beauty of her flowers and enjoyed canning the vegetables she grew. As much as she cherished her garden, her greatest pride was always her family—especially her grandchildren, who never failed to bring a smile to her face and could do no wrong in her eyes.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Randy Foreman; their children, Sarah (Jacob) Sodervick, Emily (Aj) Bytnar, and Devin (Shayla) Foreman; and her five precious grandchildren, Molly Sodervick, Sophie and Leo Bytnar, and Shaya and Sofia Foreman, who filled her days with joy and laughter.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Sunday, May 3rd in Fisher Funeral Chapel, 1801 Chase Road, Logansport.
A memorial service celebrating Shirley’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Foreman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions honoring Shirley be made to the Peru Rotary Club, Attn: Shoes that Fit, PO Box 232, Peru, Indiana, 46970.
