The Logansport Savings Bank (LSB) Junior Board concluded their year of service with two exciting and significant financial contributions to the Cass County community.

Throughout the year, the LSB Junior Board members enthusiastically engaged in various community service initiatives on their own time. These hours were tracked and reimbursed by Logansport Savings Bank into a fund for making a non-profit donation at the end of their school year. At their final meeting of the 2025-2026 school year, the Logansport Savings Bank Junior Board chose to donate $1,000 to the Logansport Art Association and $1,000 to the League of Women Voters.

“We are incredibly proud of the Junior Board’s achievements this year,” said Chad Higgins, President and CEO of Logansport Savings Bank. “The donations to the Logansport Art Association and the League of Women Voters are a direct result of the hundreds of community service hours that these students completed throughout the year. It is a privilege to work with these students, learning from them as much as they also learn from us. Their collaboration and teamwork as a Junior Board continues to make a meaningful difference in our community.”

“It has been an honor to lead such a dedicated group of students,” said James Myers, a senior
student from Lewis Cass High School who served as Junior Board President this year. “There are many memorable moments from our Junior Board experience, but this is one of the best. Seeing our hard work culminate in these donations is incredibly rewarding. Because of the research and presentations we did as a group on various nonprofit organizations throughout Cass County, we are confident that these contributions will make a positive impact in our community.”

He went on to say, “Throughout the year, we’ve had the opportunity to tour and learn from business and community leaders who are proud to call Logansport and Cass County home, and to help it grow. These year-end donations feel like our way of being a small part of that, too. Being on the Junior Board has left a lasting impact on me, and I have truly enjoyed the entire experience.”

As a community bank, LSB is focused on empowering the next generation of leaders and helping them see what opportunities exist for career pathways right here at home. We want to do more than simply provide banking services – we want to build relationships that contribute to strong, productive communities in the future.

Thanks to these local leaders and individuals, the LSB Junior Board made visits to these locations this year:
− Derreck Parkevich, Cass County Family YMCA
− Heather Fouts and Jill Snyder, Cass County Historical Society
− Greg Toth, Logansport Utilities
− Todd Miller, Myers Spring Company
− Tara McVay, Parkview Logansport Hospital
− Matthew Jennings, Workman and Associates
− Jason Mitchell and the Emmaus Mission Center Food Pantry

The outgoing officers from the LSB Junior Board are graduating seniors:
▪ James Myers, President (Lewis Cass)
▪ Liberty Preston, Vice-President (Lewis Cass)
▪ Hunter Bartling, Secretary (Pioneer)
▪ Myli Rude, Treasurer (Caston)

Other graduating seniors include Audrey Graham (Logansport), Calvin Mackey (Logansport), Mia McKaig (Pioneer) and Camila Hernandez-Rios (Caston).

Current junior students serving on the board now will return in the fall as seniors, and Logansport Savings Bank will welcome a new class of juniors for the 2026-2027 school year.

Students joining the Junior Board complete an application at each of their respective schools within our county (Logansport, Pioneer, Lewis Cass, and Caston) and school administrators select the junior students who will go on to represent their corporations.

Logansport Savings Bank looks forward to announcing and welcoming our new Junior Board members at the beginning of next school year.
