Helen Lucille Shriver December 19, 1926 – May 1, 2026

Helen Lucille Shriver passed away on May 1, 2026, at the age of 99. She lived a full and vibrant life marked by creativity, warmth, and a deep love for her family and friends.

Helen was a wonderful cook and an exceptional host who found true joy in bringing people together around the table. Her meals were made with love, and her home was always a place of comfort, laughter, and connection.

A gifted and passionate artist, Helen created thousands of paintings and works of art throughout her lifetime. Each piece reflected her imagination, talent, and thoughtful perspective on the world. Her art was an integral part of her identity, and it leaves behind a lasting legacy.

Helen was a devoted and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She had a special way of making everyone feel seen and loved, always offering support, kindness, and encouragement.

Helen grew up in North Judson, Indiana, one of ten children born to Carl and Margaret Kalinowski. She moved to Washington, D.C., to work with her older sister Bernice (“Kal”), learning and working as a secretary. In the 1950s, she moved to Logansport, where she met and married Glen Shriver (deceased). Together they raised their daughter and son.

Helen was active in her Ladies group, the Mater Dei Discussion Group, with friends from St. Joe Church. She was also involved in Tri Kappa during the 1960s and 1970s, working tirelessly to raise funds for Riley Children’s Hospital and local Cass County philanthropic groups.

She lived a life full of energy and creativity – renovating homes, playing golf, joining a bowling league, and always keeping a paintbrush in her hand. After retiring to Arkansas, Helen and Glen became accomplished golfers and continued building homes, including two in Arkansas and another in Concord, North Carolina.

Helen later returned to Indiana, enjoying her new condo and eventually residing with her daughter during her final two years.

She is survived by her children: Daughter: Laura Dyer Son: Scott Shriver (Judy) Grandchildren: Lucianne Forgey (Andy) Lincoln Dyer (Katlyn) Great-grandchildren: Ryan and Mia Forgey Parker Dyer.

Helen had impeccable style – always chic, with a classic elegance that never faded. Her presence was graceful, confident, and timeless. A natural storyteller, Helen found joy in sharing memories, wisdom, and humor from her long and remarkable life. She will be remembered for her creativity, generosity, humor, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on through her artwork, her stories, and the many lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. A private family gathering and  Celebration of Helen’s life will be held at a later date.
