Last Updated on July 27, 2026 by Cass County Communication Network

Sherry Lynn Branham, 61, of Walton, passed away peacefully at home early Wednesday morning, July 22, 2026. She spent her final moments surrounded by loved ones.

Born on February 16, 1965, in Marion, IN,  she was the daughter of the late Larry V. Brooksher (Logansport) and Diana L. (Paxton) Thompson (Marion). She was a 1983 graduate of Marion High School and later earned her cosmetology license.

Growing up, Sherry enjoyed swimming at the reservoir with her brothers, riding horses in the blackjacks, and spending time with family in Oklahoma. She loved the mountains and water skiing on the lake.  She enjoyed going to concerts, camping, and listening to rock and roll. She was energetic and often cooked big meals for everyone to share.

Sherry retired from Cal-Comp in 2018; however, most recently, took great pride in volunteering at the Walton American Legion, Post 418, a place where friends became family.

Sherry is survived by two daughters, Emilee Branham (Walton) and Mason Branham (Kokomo); and one son, Nicolas Brooksher (3 girls). Her grandchildren include Sienna Rowe, Shelby Rowe II,  Ezekiel Lewis, and Zaydin Branham.

She leaves behind two brothers, Kelly V. Brooksher (Bluffton) and Todd (Jacki) Brooksher (Marion). Her nephews include  Zachary (Amber) Brooksher (Greenfield), Joshua (Karissa) Brooksher (Marion), Kurtis (Christina) Brooksher (Bluffton), Cameron (Courtney) Brooksher (Marion), and Heath  (Madison) Brooksher (Fort Wayne), along with 11 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Also survived by stepmother Judy Brooksher (Logansport) and stepsister JoyL (Tim) Spencer (Logansport) and children Hunter, Saige, and Ashton.

To Sherry’s greatest friend and confidant, Rosetta Diaz: Many years of laughs, tears, and memories to be cherished forever.

Many referred to her as “Mama Sherry”, a term of endearment. Sherry was more than just a friend to most. She was loyal and dependable, honest, and one of the hardest workers you’d ever meet. She loved to work a crossword and play a game of Scrabble, a battle of wit, as hers was unmatched. Closest to her heart was Cowboy, her 4-legged companion and trusty sidekick (2013-2018).

Sherry left a lasting impression on us all. A Grandmother, Mother, Sister, and Friend, her memory will live on forever.

Last call for a couple puffs… We Love You, Mom.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Walton American Legion Post 418 on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
