Louise M. McDowell

mcdowellLouise M. McDowell, 92, of Logansport, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015, in North Woods Village, Kokomo, with her family by her side.

Born in Everette, Washington on October 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Bert Henry and Clara Belle Height Robideaux.

Louise enlisted in the United States Army Air Force in February of 1942 and was a proud veteran of World War II. While stationed in Florida, she met the love of her life, Donald Eugene McDowell. On August 17, 1945, in Tampa, Florida, the couple married. Don preceded her in death on August 8, 1980.

A graduate of Wright’s Beauty College, she owned and operated Louise’s Beauty Shop for a number of years.

Louise enjoyed reading. She also liked to watch animals. Louise was an excellent cook and especially loved to bake breads. Her love of travel left her with a lifetime of memories. In earlier years, Louise enjoyed bowling  and pitching horseshoes.

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Sandy) McDowell of Greentown and Gary (Jill) McDowell of Logansport; three grandchildren Richard Kelly McDowell, Angela M. (Fred) Schulte and Jeffry M. (Evelyn) McDowell; and three great-granddaughters, Amanda, Trinity and Heather.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and her grandson, Donald Walter McDowell.

In celebration of Louise McDowell’s life, there will be a gathering of family and friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Full military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. at the flag pole in the funeral chapel  garden.

Private inurnment will take place in the Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport, Cremation was entrusted to Fisher Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society.
