Robert L. Downham, 85 of Logansport, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 after a 3 year long battle with leukemia.
He was born February 15, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan and was the son of the late Ted and Cassie (Michaels) Downham. On January 15, 1994 in Logansport he married Kathleen D. Willy who survives.
Bob was a United States Army Veteran and was stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He farmed all of his life in Carroll County and took great pride in his farms and continually worked at making them more productive. Bob also worked many years at the Logansport Livestock Yards as a hog buyer and was a co-founder of Gangloff & Downham Trucking.
Bob enjoyed visiting with family and always had a funny story to share. As a hobby he enjoyed collecting and restoring antique tractors and cars. Bob was a member of the Logansport American Legion Post #60, Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge #211, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine Temple and Logansport Shrine Club.
Surviving along with his wife Kathleen are two daughters, Vicki (Don)Havens; Ann (Phil)Stroup; step son, Rob O’Rear; sister, Mary Louise Gangloff; brother, Wayne (Mary Lynne) Downham; two granddaughters, Alexandra & Makenzie Stroup; two grandsons, Shane & Trevor O’Rear; nieces and nephews, Caren Sue (Ed) Johnson ; Cynthia (Steve) Davidson ; Mark (Karen) Gangloff; Doug (Donna) Downham; Greg (Becky) Downham and Ed Downham.
One brother, Billy Downham, preceded in death.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 24, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial with full military rites will take place in the Rock Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM Sunday in the Gundrum Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Monday. A Masonic Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday in the funeral home.
