bowyerHelen P. Bowyer, 97, Logansport, formerly of Walton, passed away on Sunday September 13, 2015 in Woodbridge health campus, Logansport.

Born July 22, 1918 in Cass County she was the daughter to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Robertson) Polk.

On October 7, 1942 at Camp Chaffee in Arkansas she  married Sherman L. Bowyer who preceded in
death December 26, 2004.

Helen was a homemaker. She attended Kokomo High School. She liked to collect antiques, dolls, reading, bird watching,  going to garage sales and she especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis (Thomas) Glassburn, Walton, IN; Ellen (Mike) Tocco, Logansport, IN; son, Sherman J. (Martha) Bowyer, Deer Creek, IN; eleven grandchildren, Cathy (David) LeDonne, Walton, IN; Todd Glassburn; Kristina (Joe) Keeler; Jennifer Kelley; Gene Lewellen; Patrick (Amy) Lewellen; Joshua Tocco and Michael Tocco, all of Logansport; Michelle (Bob) Hines, Fulton; Shannon (Mark) Hughes, Bunker Hill; Angela (Doug) Kinslow, Kokomo; twenty two great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by two sisters; three brothers; one grandchild and one great grandchild.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 18, 2015 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Osborn officiating.  Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, Young America, IN.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00  PM also in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Miami Baptist Church.
