rooseMary Nola Roose, age 93, Logansport, passed away at 4:23 p.m., on Thursday, September 10, 2015, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born in Marshall County, on January 19, 1922, she was the daughter of Lowell M. and Florence L. Taggart Roose.

A graduate of Nappanee High School, Mary Nola received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees from Ball State University.

After teaching briefly in Winchester, Ind., and San Diego, Calif., Miss Roose taught kindergarten at Daniel Webster Elementary in Logansport for 30 years, retiring May 27, 1977.  She had been a member of the National Teachers Association, and the Indiana Teachers Association.

Mary Nola was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she sang in, and directed the choir for more than 40 years, and was active in the United Methodist Women’s Organization, where she had been treasurer, and had been chairman of the Missions Work Committee.

She enjoyed traveling the United States, especially the Northeast, accompanied by her close friends, Mary Jane Norris and Carolyn Michael.

Surviving are a brother, Willis (Betty) Roose, Sweetwater Lake in Brown County, grand-nephew, Ryan J. Roose, and grand-niece, Amy Roose Mares, and friend, Carolyn Michael, Logansport.

She was preceded in death by nephew, Randall J. Roose, and niece Rebecca Spurlock.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The service will be at 10:00 on Monday, September 14, 2015, at the funeral home, with Pastor Don Cline officiating.

Interment will be in Bremen Cemetery, in Bremen.
