Roger R. “Trey” Spencer III

spencerRoger Rex ‘Trey’ Spencer III, age 20, Logansport, passed away at 2:46 p.m., on Monday, August 31, 2015, in IU Health in Lafayette, due to injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

Born in Logansport on March 1, 1995, he was the son of Roger ‘Buzz’ and Debbie Stark Spencer, who survive in Logansport.

A 2013 graduate of Logansport High School with Academic and Technical Honors, Trey had been a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society.  He was currently a junior at Purdue University studying Mechanical Engineering Technology.

He had been employed by D & R Fruit Market and The Archery Shooters Association.

An avid outdoorsman, Bub loved hunting and fishing, riding motorcycles, competing in 3-D archery competitions, and was on the pit crew for Cooper Racing.

Trey was a member of The Archery Shooters Association, Indiana Patriot Guard, Cass County Izaak Walton League, Twin Rivers Muzzleloaders Club, Purdue Archery Team, and he was an instructor for Hunter’s Education for the state of Indiana.

Most of all, Bub loved spending time with his family and friends, including his Patriot Guard and Archery families.

Roger touched so many lives in his 20 short years.  He is loved and will be dearly missed by many.

Also surviving are a sister, Marla Spencer, Logansport; maternal grandparents, Riley ‘Jr.’ and Marla ‘Jeanne’ Stark, Delphi; paternal grandparents, Roger Sr. and Sandy Spencer and Sandy and Jerry Maughmer, all of Logansport; paternal great grandmother, Marcella Frey, Logansport.

Also, aunts and uncles, Michelle (Jed) Morehouse, Eric (Jennifer) Stark, Michael Spencer, Dee Dee (Dennis) Settlemyre, and Robert Gordon; cousins, Morgan and Miranda Edwards, Tyler, Briar and Logan Stark, Cass and Drennen Settlemyre, and Sterling, Elijah, Brooklynn, and Camden Gordon; special brothers, Brook Cooper, Tyler Keeler, and Nick Myers, as well as several other great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.

Preceding Bub in death were great grandparents, George and Lucille Shoemaker, Riley and Ada Stark, John and Nellie Spencer, W. Neal Frey, and uncle, Steven Spencer.

The visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, September 4, 2015, at the funeral home.  Pastor Ken Oravsky will officiate.

Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
