Charlotte Joan EmeryCharlotte Joan Emery, 81, of Logansport, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born May 19, 1934, in Cass County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Grace (Culp) Helvie. She was married to John A. “Jack” Overmyer, Sr. He preceded her in death January 4, 2011.

Joan owned and operated CJ Emery’s Silk Flower Shop for over 40 years. She retired from R.B.M. after 30 years of employment. Joan then worked in the mail room at the Pharos Tribune for many years.

Joan was baptized not long ago at the Spring Creek Christian Church. She enjoyed bowling and had sponsored CJ Emery’s Flower Shop bowling team for several years. She enjoyed gardening and loved animals – especially her dogs and horses.

She is survived by six children: Jeanne Hartle, John A. (Teresa) Overmyer, Jr., Joseph (fiancee Diane) Overmyer, Jackie (Lerry) Malott and Victor (Mandie) Eyman, all of Logansport, and Pam (Scott) Townsend, of Peru; one brother, Luther Leroy “Buck” (Sue) Helvie, Logansport; one sister Frances “Tom” Zeek, of Logansport; sixteen grandchildren: Christine Arthurs, Jason Grandstaff, Katie Hutsell, Brooke Overmyer, Sharla Asselin, Hollie Falherty, Marra Overmyer, Joseph II, Jonathon and Jordan Overmyer, Janella Prilaman, Crystal Rocha, Brandon and Mac Malott, Abby and Jesse Eyman; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Helvie, and one son-in-law, Wes Hartle.

A visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, in Fisher Funeral Chapel. A funeral service celebrating the life of Joan Emery will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ken Smith officiating.

Burial will immediately follow at the Spring Creek Christian Cemetery.
