Dr. James Edward Ayers

ayersDr. James Edward Ayers, 70, of Lucerne, passed away at his residence on Tuesday May 3, 2016.

Born on May 22, 1945 in Plymouth, Michigan, he was the son of the late Edward Burt and Margaret Gladys (Bourne) Ayers. On August 7, 1976 in Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Jim married Vicki L. Pickens.
Jim was a 1963 graduate of Plymouth High School in Michigan, then went on to attend Eastern Michigan University where he graduated in 1967. He was also a 1970 graduate of the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. Jim was a longtime Logansport podiatrist and was a member of the Indiana Podiatric Medical Association. He was a former Caston school board member serving from 1994 to 2012

Surviving along with wife Vicki are two daughters, Jamie L. (Mark) Rudicel, Camden, IN; Jennifer H. Ayers, Indianapolis, IN; two sons, James E. Ayers Jr., Boston, MA; Matthew G. (Christine) Ayers, Port Jervis, New York; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Ayers, Plymouth, MI; six grandchildren, Samuel A. Rudicel, James E. Ayers III, Ryan G. Ayers, Katelyn E. Ayers, Anna R. Ayers and Robert T. Ayers.

One brother, Harry Ayers, preceded in death.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday May 7, 2016 at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Snyder Officiating. Cremation will be handled by Cass County Crematory in Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Friday May 6, 2016 at Gundrum Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
