Recognizing flu symptoms

This winter’s flu season is continuing to strike our community. Logansport Memorial Hospital implemented visitor restrictions effective January 2, 2018.

As a reminder, flu symptoms may include:
Fever over 100 degrees
Cough
Sore Throat
Headache
Chills and fatigue
Nausea and vomiting

If you have any of these symptoms, stay home and rest, avoid contact with other people, drink fluids  and take fever reducers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

If symptoms persist and you are:
Unable to drink enough fluids
Have a fever for more than three to five days
Feel better, then develop a fever
Become mildly short of breath or you develop mild wheezing
Cough up blood
Have pain in your chest with breathing

Call your healthcare provider or go to ExpressMed, located at 3400 East Market Street at Cass Plaza
or call 574-722-9633.

Go to the Emergency Room for immediate treatment if the following symptoms occur:
Difficulty breathing
Severe shortness of breath
Chest pain or severe abdominal pain
Confusion
Sudden dizziness
Severe vomiting or vomiting that won’t stop.

Logansport Memorial Hospital will continue to temporarily restrict visitors to the facility. The restriction
aims to protects and patients and halt the spread of influenza.
