Logansport city employees will have IDs

Last Updated on April 24, 2019 by cassnetwork

For the first time, everyone employed in city government will have an identification card that can be displayed on a lanyard.

The city is in the process of issuing identification cards to ensure local residents that anyone identifying themselves as a city employee is not an impostor.

“During this time of year, people are more apt to answer their doors and there are often people going door to door who may be home intruders,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said today. “For people who live alone, particularly senior citizens, this is an extra measure of protection when someone knocks on their door. If a person claims they are a city employee, they’ll be able to show their city identification card. Local residents shouldn’t hesitate to ask for a form of identification, or to call the respective city office to confirm the person is representing the city.”

Spring also is a time when scam artists are known to go door-to-door to search for potential victims. Local residents can report any scam to the local authorities and the Indiana Consumer Protection Division at (800) 382-5516.
