The Cass County Community Foundation Board of Directors is excited to announce that the funds available for community grants to Cass County non-profits during the 2019 grant cycle is a record high. CCCF President Deanna Crispen announced that the Foundation has made up to $130,000 available for this year’s competitive grants. When making the announcement, Crispen stated, “We have continued to enjoy substantial growth over the last decade increasing our grant money from approximately $19,000 just 15 years ago to $130,000 this year. Our board has continued to work diligently to grow our funds so that every year we can offer more back to the community for important projects. This year’s pool of $130,000 is a $10,000 increase over 2018 and the fourteenth consecutive year that the Foundation has increased the amount available.”
Thanks to generous donations from Cass County citizens, as well as effective stewardship and financial management of unrestricted funds, CCCF has continued to consistently meet the community’s needs through awarding grants. Non-profit, 501(c) (3) organizations serving Cass County are encouraged to apply for funding for projects which benefit the community and improve the quality of life in Cass County.
A free grant-writing workshop was held Thursday May 23rd at the Cass County Community Foundation building. Several changes have been made to the application process including a new letter of intent, interview, and timeline changes. Crispen shared, “The new process is designed to help our non-profits better understand what is possible to be funded, as well as offer the committee an in-person conversation with organization representatives to share their projects and answer questions.”
“We are always striving to improve our programs and support for our nonprofits,” Grant Committee Chairman Tim Rich said. “We are hopeful these changes, and specifically the interview presentations, will allow committee members to learn firsthand about the submitted projects and why they are important from the people who are most passionate about the need.”
The Opportunity Grants Program announced last year will now be offered on a quarterly basis and considered for as long as funding is available. Deadlines for Opportunity Grants are July 15, October 5, January 15 and April 15. Crispen stated, “We hope these changes will help our nonprofits be successful not only with our grant programs but with other grants they seek.”
Guidelines and instructions may be picked up at the CCCF office, 729 E. Market Street, downtown Logansport, or downloaded from the Foundation website (www.casscountycf.org).The deadline to return completed letter of intent materials is June 15, 2019.
