Mayor says construction trending up in Logansport

Last Updated on May 9, 2019 by cassnetwork

The rains have subsided, but the hammers, drills and saws are just getting warmed up for the primary season when property improvements are made.

It is a fact apparent in the monthly city permit report presented to the Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety.

According to the report issued for the first third of the year by Building Commissioner Deb Beattie, the number of permits issued through her office is up 19 percent. Overall construction is up 22 percent over the same period last year.

While the new ReVere Homes project is contributing to those numbers, work on several other projects is progressing, including the new restrooms at Spencer Park. This week, a permit was issued for a new sign at the Gothra’s Neighborhood Supermarket at the former Marsh location on North Third Street. The sign is expected to be installed soon.

Other projects moving forward this year is the Logan Stampings move to the industrial park and the Foppers expansion into the former Midwest Spring building off West Market.
