LOGANSPORT, Ind. – Thanks to a new partnership between Ivy Tech Community College and Fort Wayne-based Indiana Tech, students will be able to complete a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Ivy Tech’s state-of-the-art instructional site in Logansport. Indiana Tech will begin offering courses this fall as part of Ivy Tech Logansport’s new “University Center.”
Interested community members will have an opportunity to learn more about the new partnership at a kick-off event set for 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Ivy Tech Logansport, 1 Ivy Tech Way. Representatives of both schools will be on hand to discuss how this joint degree program will benefit the people, businesses, and communities of north central Indiana. The event is open to the public.
Under the agreement, Ivy Tech students will be able to complete associate degrees on the Logansport campus that are designed to meet first- and second-year requirements at Indiana Tech. Indiana Tech is co-locating on Ivy Tech’s Logansport campus to offer the third- and fourth-year courses needed to complete bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration in seven areas of concentration – Business Communication, Entrepreneurial Studies, Health Care Administration, Human Resources, Management, Marketing, and Sports Management. Additional programs may be added in the future.
“This is a great opportunity, especially for residents in the northern part of Ivy Tech’s Kokomo Service Area – Cass, Miami, and Fulton counties,” said Ivy Tech Chancellor Dean McCurdy. “For students in rural communities throughout north central Indiana, this partnership provides an alternative to ‘going away’ to attend college or complete a bachelor’s degree.”
As an additional incentive, Ivy Tech graduates in the Business Administration program with a GPA of 2.5 or higher will be eligible for a merit scholarship, which will reduce their Indiana Tech undergraduate tuition by 20 percent.
“Indiana’s economy increasingly depends on Hoosiers who have completed education and training far beyond their years in high school, but high school graduates from rural communities are in danger of being left behind,” said Dr. Karl Einolf, president of Indiana Tech.
“They face many challenges, including erratic work schedules, transportation, housing, health care, child care – and lack of access to broadband internet,” he continued. “The goal of this partnership is to provide a convenient, seamless path forward for students from rural Indiana who want to earn their associate and bachelor’s degrees.”
Indiana Tech’s business administration degrees are designed to help graduates advance their careers by developing problem-solving and decision-making skills with a curriculum that focuses on strategies in real-world business applications.
“Our graduates are prepared to succeed in a wide variety of business and industrial settings, in functions including operations, marketing, human resources, and general management,” Einolf said. “Take a look at the State of Indiana’s INDemand list of high-demand, high-wage jobs for today and tomorrow to get an idea of how a bachelor’s degree in business can open doors to great careers.”
