The public is invited to the 4th Dimension Recovery Homes first ever “Faces of Recovery Picnic” on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Spencer Park Lower Pavilion. The event is planned to raise awareness, remove stigma and raise funds to support recovery efforts locally.

According to statistics, 71,000 Americans died in 2017 from addiction related causes. 4th Dimension Recovery House, 4DRH, is a new non-profit located in Cass County and dedicated to providing safe, sober, recovery residencies for those seeking recovery. The 12-Step recovery, peer modeling approach has proven to be an effective transition to achieving long term sobriety for those lucky enough to live in a community with this type of facility. 4DRH plans to open both a men’s home and a women’s home in Cass County.

The free event is co-sponsored by Advantage Housing, the Cass County Community Foundation, and Four County Counseling Center and features two national guest speakers sharing their work and journeys of recovery. There will be panel groups, discussion, and time for lunch and fellowship.

Eric Regan, President 4DRH, shared, “I suffered extreme Substance Use Disorder for over two decades. Hard drugs and alcohol took everything I cared about from me. I dragged my children through the mud; I lost my children twice. Now, in my fifth year of recovery I have my children back, I am attending college to be an addiction counselor, and 4th Dimension Recovery Homes is just another part of my giving back what has been so freely given to me.”

Ryan Parmeter, Client Coordinator for 4DRH stated, “The recovery house I lived in after my stay in rehab was such a crucial part of my staying clean. I want to provide other recovering addicts with a safe place to stay, connect them with much-needed resources, and gift them the opportunity to continue growing mentally, emotionally, and spiritually right here in our own community.”

Regan added, “We were inspired to sponsor our Faces of Recovery Picnic by the passion and care we witnessed at the Cass County Community Summit on Addiction from our community stakeholders. Most of these professionals have only dealt with the negative and hopeless side of Substance Use Disorder. We want to share with the community the faces and stories of recovery. There is a solution. There is hope. We can provide living proof of miracles of recovery.”

The event is a fundraiser to help the group begin the work of identifying two properties and remodeling both for use as recovery residencies. Advantage Housing is offering assistance in the process of acquiring and rehabbing properties to meet stringent state and federal recovery residency standards.

The outpouring of support we have received from civic leaders and stakeholders in the community has been awesome. Jason Mitchell of Emmaus Mission Center has provided much needed guidance as a founding member or our Advisory Board. We are grateful to the Cass County Community Foundation, Advantage Housing and Four County Counseling Center for their generous support both financially and in sharing resources and time with us,” said Regan.

The group will be accepting donations for the lunch and selling t-shirts as a fundraiser and to raise awareness of the need for transitional housing opportunities.

CCCF President Deanna Crispen said, “Addiction touches all of us in some way and we are pleased to be able to assist 4DRH in building a proven pathway to long term recovery. The young men and women who are volunteering their time and talent to make this possible for others are a real inspiration.”

Kerrie Cox, 4DRH treasurer summed up the shared passion of the organization, “What 4DRH is trying to do here in Logansport is amazing. Recovery saved my life. I just want to share that with people so they can have that chance too.”
