A Logansport native who has had a busy month of August is recognized this week as the Logansport Citizen of the Week.
Sharon Smith is director of communications for the Indiana State Fair Commission. The fair concluded last weekend with attendance up nearly 18,000 visitors this year. It’s the third year for Smith in her post, which involves developing and implementing strategic communications for the fair and the event center.
“Sharon has had a number of capacities in her career after she graduated from Logansport High School in 1985,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said. “She has a tremendous undertaking on her plate every year, and she has been a part of the fair’s success.”
Her resume includes periods as owner and president of Maverick Public Relations for 14 years. She was marketing director for Topics Newspapers and The Noblesville Daily Ledger, and served as the first executive director for Noblesville Main Street, Inc., the downtown development organization for Noblesville, Indiana.
Sharon is the daughter of Jeff and Jeanne Smith.
She will receive a $20 gift certificate to a local restaurant and a certificate from the Mayor’s Office.
The Citizen of the Week program is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and recognizes residents, natives and former residents.
