On Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at approximately 7:02 a.m. Cass County Central Dispatch received a call of a missing male. The male, Marlin Kuns, failed to arrive at his work in Logansport. Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office began searching for the missing man. Mr. Kuns’ family provided his cellular number to Central Dispatch. The cellular carrier was contacted and provided an approximate location of Mr. Kuns’ cellular device. Deputies from Cass County, Cass County Fire District 1, New Waverly Fire Department and Prompt Ambulance Service responded to Division and County Road 450 East.

Preliminary investigation by Deputy Scott Turney and Deputy Tyler Hanna found 77 year old Marlin Kuns of rural Twelve Mile, IN, had been driving a 2004 Dodge van Southbound on CR 450 East at Division Road when he traveled off of the roadway and struck several trees. The vehicle was not visible from the roadway because of trees and vegetation. Mr. Kuns was trapped in his vehicle and unable to reach his cellular telephone.

A Samaritan Helicopter based in Rochester was requested at the scene by medical personnel to airlift Mr. Kuns to a hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.

The crash is still under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s office. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 574-753-7800.
