A woman who has completed a massive west side renovation project is recognized this week with a special city award.
Rachel Henry has opened her Modern Realty office on the northeast corner of North Cicott and West Market. But Mayor Dave Kitchell says she’s really done much more than that at the site of a former beauty shop, and her commitment led him to name her as the Citizen of the Week.
“Her investment in the west side, especially at a time when the Market Street Bridge has been under construction, shows some determined passion for entrepreneurship and community development. Rachel is a role model for the kind of small business investment we need not only on the west side, but in Logansport.”
The mayor said after visiting the office Friday it has undergone a “total transformation” and will benefit from the opening of the new bridge later this year.
Henry is a 2002 Pioneer High School graduate and received her college degree from Indiana University-Kokomo. She has been in real estate for several years and began improvements on the building earlier this year.
An open house for the office is planned next weekend.
The Citizen of the Week is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and recognizes local natives, current and former residents. Recipients receive a certificate from the Mayor’s Office and a $20 gift certificate to a local restaurant.
