Indianapolis, IN – Today, Indiana State Treasurer Kelly Mitchell released a web video formally announcing her campaign to seek the Republican nomination for Congress in Indiana’s 5th Congressional District.

The 60 second video titled “Everything” states:

“I was born on a Naval base. When I was 5, my father left. My mom raised us on a farm with no car and no TV.

“But I always had hope. Because I was born in America.

“You can’t tell me the American Dream is dead. It’s not.

“But it is under constant attack from the radical left.

“My name is Kelly Mitchell, and here’s what I believe.

“Secure the border and do it now! Don’t blink when it comes to China or Russia. Defend the unborn. Protect the second amendment.

“Respect the flag and show gratitude to those who have defended it.

“Folks, it’s not hard. It just takes guts!

“I’m conservative. I’m Republican. And I’m running for Congress.”

Kelly was elected as the first female County Commissioner in Cass County, the youngest County Commissioner in the State of Indiana, and served two terms. She was elected Indiana State Treasurer in 2014 and re-elected overwhelmingly in 2018 with nearly 59 percent of the vote.

While serving as Treasurer, Kelly has helped secure Indiana’s $2 billion budget surplus and AAA credit rating while launching Indiana’s ABLE program, modernizing our 911 system, and making the CollegeChoice 529 program accessible to more Hoosier families.

Kelly is a lifelong conservative. She served as a delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention and was an Elector for Donald J. Trump for President in 2016 in the Electoral College. She was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash by then-Governor Mike Pence and as a civilian, earned a M.A. in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

Kelly Mitchell has a blended family of four children and two grandchildren with her husband Larry.
