Possession of stolen truck and narcotics leads to arrest

On Saturday, October 19, 2019, at approximately 3:35 a.m. Cass County Central Dispatch was notified by a resident in the 4000 block of State Road 17 of a suspicious person at his residence. Deputy Preston and Deputy Beebout of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home. Officers arrived and found a male outside of a maroon GMC that had been parked in the driveway.
Preliminary investigation by the deputies found the driver, Kristopher Long of Rochester, IN, had been driving to France Park and ran out of fuel near the residence so knocked on the door for assistance. Further investigation found the GMC truck had been reported stolen in Fulton County on October 15, 2019. As the deputies attempted to arrest Long, he began to resist and fled from the location. He was apprehended a short time later after an altercation with the deputies.
Long was transported to the Cass County Jail by an officer with the Logansport Police Department and was incarcerated for the following charges:
Auto Theft
Possession of Methamphetamine
Resisting Law Enforcement
False Informing
Disorderly Conduct
Two counts of Disarming Law Enforcement
Two Counts of Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury to a Public Safety Official.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
