A long-time Logansport resident who was active in the community for many years is honored this week with one of Logansport’s highest honors.

Betty Cahalan has been named Citizen of the Week by Mayor Dave Kitchell.

“Betty for many years was active in Girl Scouts, and was very active in the former St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church,” Mayor Kitchell said. “She also was a member of the Logansport Civic Players pit orchestra for many years. She’s a consummate mother and grandmother who was supportive of many school and community causes. She and her family annually performed Christmas carols for families and shut-ins throughout the community.”

Betty and her late husband, Dr. Leo Cahalan, were parents of five children.

The Citizen of the Week is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and recognizes Logansport residents, natives and former residents for their contributions. Recipients receive a $20 gift certificate to a local restaurant and a certificate from the Mayor’s Office.
