Labor Day 2026 Closings and Observances

Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 7, 2026.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Labor Day “is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”

No school on Monday, Sept. 7, 2026 for Caston, Lewis Cass, Logansport, Pioneer Schools.
Logansport Utilities’ offices will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025 in observance of Labor Day. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Cass County Government Building will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7, 2026. The Cass County Commissioners meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026.
All Logansport City Government offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 in Observance of Labor Day. Regular services will resume on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.The September City Council Meeting will be held on Monday, September 14, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.in the City Council Chambers 3rd floor of the City Building.
Galveston Town Hall will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, 2026
All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) branches will be closed Saturday, September 5, 2026 through Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day. The U.S. Postal Service will observe Labor Day on Monday, September 7, 2026. All Post Office locations will be closed. Regular mail delivery and retail services will resume on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Check with your bank for their hours for the holiday weekend.
The Cass County Dentzel Carousel at Riverside Park will be open for the final weekend of the season. Hours are Saturday & Sunday 1-9 p.m. , Labor Day Monday 1-5 p.m. Labor Day Monday is the last day of the season.
Logansport Trash Pickup: Due to the Labor Day holiday, trash and recycling collection normally scheduled for Monday will be collected on Tuesday. Once Monday’s collections are completed, crews will move into Tuesday’s route, then Wednesday’s route, and so on until all collections are completed. Logansport residents with regularly scheduled collection Tuesday through Friday should still have their trash and recycling out on their regularly scheduled collection day. Collection will continue progressing through routes as crews complete each day’s work. This is not a traditional one-day holiday delay schedule. Please have all trash and recycling placed out for collection by 5:00 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day to ensure service.
The Cass County Solid Waste (recycling) warehouse at 15 Biddle Street will be closed September 4-7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day. They will reopen at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday September 8, 2026.
The Logansport-Cass County Public Library will be closed for Labor Day on Monday, September 7, 2026.
