Construction continues rapid pace in Logansport

Although construction slowed down in October, totals through the first 10 months of 2018 indicate it remains more than 100 percent ahead of last year.

Building Commissioner Wayne Erwin presented his monthly report to the Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety Wednesday. It indicates permits for construction totaling $24,340,799 have been issued so far this year, up from $11,244,525 through the same month last year.

Total fees paid to the office also have risen from $46,421 last year to $70,831 this year.

In other business:

*The board approved a speed limits change from 30 mph to 20 mph through Huston Park. Several conflicting signs have been posted on the street.

*A property at 1628 E. Market St. will be cleaned up by the Street Department and the property owners will be billed.

*The board continued action on a house at 1217 Smead St. to allow the owner, David Koonce, to receive a grant from the One Warrior Foundation at Home Depot. The foundation supports veterans.
