A movie theme for the fourth annual Light Up Logansport Parade produced some inspired entries last week.

The Parade Chairman’s Award goes to Jim Beal of Logansport who came up with a rendition of Chevy Chase’s station wagon in “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” His 1978 Impala station wagon with a large Christmas tree and lights on the car earned him the award.

Logansport State Hospital also weighed in with its entry based on “The Polar Express.” Its smoking steam engine and its long train led to its recognition as the Theme Prize Award recipient.

“Winter Wonderland” was the theme of a beautiful lighted float entered from Mishawaka.

The Parade Marshal’s Award recognized the local 4-H llama group. While the parade had no reindeer, it did have enough llamas to pull Santa’s sleigh.

The Grand Prize Award goes to the Logansport Children’s Choir. Students from Logansport schools gave up a portion of their Thanksgiving Break to participate and provided Christmas music.
