Don’t wait for the cold weather rush to apply. Area Five Agency on Aging & Community Services is still accepting applications for 2019-2020 Energy Assistance Program (EAP). Families have the opportunity to submit one application during the program year, which begins October 1, 2019 and goes through May 15, 2020; although many were able to submit their application early, September 2019, for the 2020 program year. This program provides individuals and families with a one -time payment to their heat and electric utility bills during the winter heating months, as funding is available. Once clients are approved, their regulated electric and gas are protected from disconnection through March 15. Qualifying households will get a step ahead on those rising utility bills. Even after you apply, please continue to pay on your bills to avoid disconnection after March 15.

Please visit our website www.areafive.com and click “Energy Assistance” for the Energy Assistance Program (EAP) application and energy saving tips and ideas, along with a video to expand your knowledge of how to further conserve energy in your home. The energy education survey you complete, after watching the video and being approved, will aid you in getting your FREE energy saving kit. If you have questions after viewing the video, please contact us for more information. Participation can be completed from the comfort of your home through our online video or in a face-to-face setting at our office. For a face-to-face appointment, please call 1-800-654-9421 or your local Area Five Agency on Aging & Community Services office. Energy efficient items in kits vary yearly. All kits must be picked up at the local office by you or your authorized representative that you listed on the survey by August 1st, 2020 to obtain the current year kit.
