Illness, absence force closure of Fairview Elementary Jan. 28-31, 2020

Last Updated on January 31, 2020 by Logansport Community School Corporation

Logansport Schools Superintendent Michele Starkey announced to parents today that Fairview Elementary School will be closed Tuesday, January 28 – Friday, January 31, 2020 due to the number of student absences from illness.

“Maintaining the health and wellbeing of our students and staff is our highest priority right now,” Starkey said.

She added that the district has consulted with the Cass County Department of Health and worked closely with the custodial department to reduce the risk of illness. Absences continue to rise, so closing the school will prevent students and staff from direct contact with each other and allow the custodial staff to continue to more thoroughly clean and sanitize the school.

None of the district’s other schools are affected by this closing and will continue their normal schedules.
