Street Commissioner Tony Shanks met Friday with Joseph Hoffman, Vice President and Project  Manager from Construction Control Inc. who is handling the Cass County Jail project. The current plan is to close High Street between 3rd and 4th streets on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.

The  county commissioners have requested the closure through November of this year, but they have committed to opening the road sooner if construction permits.  City and county officials understand that this is not ideal, but the main concern is public safety during construction due to the usage of heavy equipment and machinery in the affected area.

“We understand the inconvenience that this will cause to many of our citizens,” commented Mayor Chris Martin. “But with progress sometimes comes sacrifice. In order to move forward,  patience and understanding is essential. We truly appreciate the continued good will and  perseverance of our citizens through what has been, without a doubt, a trying time for our  community with the continued construction over the past couple of years. But in the end, it is a catalyst of accomplishing what we all want, which is a better Logansport.”
