At their meeting last month, Logansport’s Utility Service Board heard a presentation from Dr. Jerry Sweeten of Ecosystems Connection Institute regarding the removal of the dams along the Eel River near Riverside Park.
There will be a public meeting concerning the proposed dam removal project on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020 at 6 p.m. in the LMU Board Room, located on the third floor of the Logansport City Building.
LMU Superintendent Paul Hartman said the purpose of the dams was to provide cooling water for the generating plant and water for the water plant, which are now closed. He says the dams were not created for flood control.
The Indiana House of Representatives recently passed legislation from State Representative Ethan Manning regarding low head dams. (More info here and here).
During Tuesday’s meeting, Dr. Sweeten will present information and answer questions from the public.
