On March 5, 2020, Logansport Mayor Chris Martin used his own money and purchased a more fuel efficient and eco-friendly car from Mike Anderson Dodge on South 3rd Street in Logansport. This car will serve as his personal vehicle, as well as his alternative to a mayor’s car, which he feels would be an unnecessary expense by the city.
Mayor Martin stated: “I believe it is in the best interest of our community for me to be driving my own vehicle, saving the citizens of our community over $8,000 over the next four years. Although every mayor before me (as far as I know) has had a mayor’s car, I don’t believe that we are in a position to be purchasing a brand new vehicle as suggested by a city councilman. I would not, in any way, want to take away from any city departments and their inventory.”
