White County man arrested after investigation of Sept. 2019 crash

Cass County – Recently, an investigation into a crash that occurred on September 21, 2019 has resulted in arrest of Brady Riley, 20, Burnettsville, IN. Riley was served a Cass Superior Court II arrest warrant alleging a single charge of criminal recklessness. He was arrested when he surrendered to officers at the Cass  County Sheriff’s Department.

Riley’s arrest stems from an investigation conducted by Trooper Chris Miller and the Indiana State Police Peru Post’s Crash Reconstruction Team. The investigation purportedly revealed that Riley was allegedly driving a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, at an excessive rate of speed, when the car traveled off the west side of the road hitting multiple trees. James Hornback, 21, Royal Center, IN, a passenger in the Monte Carlo, was ejected from the vehicle. He eventually had to have a leg amputated due to an injury suffered during the crash. Riley was also injured in the crash.

The Indiana State Police Peru Post Crash Reconstruction Team consist of six member. They go through extensive training in order to investigate the most serious and complex crashes.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
