Meetings this week include public hearings on bonds, project presentation from Waelz Sustainable Products

Several meetings are scheduled to take place this week and Waelz Sustainable Products is anticipated to be discussed at some of them.

The Cass County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday, August 17 at the Cass County Government Building. Here’s the agenda for their meeting. (PDF version here).

Agenda for August 17, 2020 Meeting of Cass County Commissioners

The Cass County Economic Development Commission will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, August 17 at the Cass County 4-H Fairgrounds. There’s also an option to attend virtually.

There are two public hearings on the agenda for that meeting.

The meeting agenda includes a project presentation from Waelz Sustainable Products LLC, followed by a public hearing on two economic development revenue bonds.

Then, the agenda lists consideration of the project report for the TIF EDC Bonds, consideration of a resolution on the TIF EDC bonds, a presentation on private activity bonds, consideration of a project report for the private activity EDC bonds and consideration of a resolution related to the private activity bonds.

The notices for the public hearings indicate that the totals for one series of bonds is not to exceed $23 million, while the other series is not to exceed $70 million. Read more here.

Agenda for Cass County Economic Development Commission Meeting on August 17, 2020.

The Cass County Redevelopment Commission is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 19 at the Cass County Government Building. We have not received an agenda for that meeting yet, but a notice of public hearing was published in the Pharos-Tribune on August 7. It indicates that the hearing will be to consider the appropriation of an amount not to exceed $4,675,000 from the proceeds of the Commission’s Redevelopment District Bonds, and all investment earnings thereon, for the costs of construction of a fire suppression system, together with all necessary appurtenances, related improvements and equipment, in the Clymers Economic Development Area, funding a debt service reserve and payment of issuance expenses, including premiums for municipal bond insurance and/or a debt service reserve surety.

The Cass County Council will meet at 9 a.m. on Friday, August 21. The agenda for the meeting, released on Thursday, August 20, includes ordinances for the issuance of bonds for WSP.


The Cass County Citizens Coalition is hosting an Informational Public Forum at 6 p.m. Friday, August 21 at McHale Performing Arts Center. Seating is limited and masks are required. More info is available here.
