INDIANAPOLIS – The Hoosier Hospitality Promise, a public health initiative in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, has released data surrounding the number of businesses and consumers that have made The Promise throughout the State of Indiana.
The Hoosier Hospitality Promise is a joint effort by Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana Destination Development Corporation (IDDC), Indiana Restaurant & Lodging Association (INRLA) and Indiana Tourism Association (ITA) that launched in early July. Since the launch, Indiana has seen more than 600 businesses make The Promise to ensure employees’ and consumers’ safety.
“We are extremely pleased to see the results from the Hoosier Hospitality Promise and to know that so many businesses have made this important pledge,” said Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch.
The more than 600 businesses that have made the Hoosier Hospitality Promise have pledged to follow federal, state and local health and safety guidelines. Almost 5,000 consumers have made The Promise. Businesses and consumers can still make The Promise by visiting HoosierHospitalityPromise.com. By making the Hoosier Hospitality Promise, businesses pledge that they are following all the guidelines from the CDC, local and state health departments, and best practices of their national organizations to keep their employees as well as guests healthy and safe.
“The Hoosier Hospitality Promise website has been is a great tool for providing education, recognizing businesses that provide a safe environment for employees and guests, and motivating consumers with discounts as we continue to work towards a safe reopening for all Hoosiers,” said Elaine Bedel, Secretary and CEO of IDDC. “In fact, this initiative is receiving international attention from CrowdRiff.”
When consumers make The Promise, they commit to making Indiana healthier by practicing social distancing, wearing face coverings, and not going out if sick. In return, consumers receive a digital Hoosier Hospitality Promise Pass, giving them access to exclusive discounts at select participating businesses.
CrowdRiff is a technology/software company that “delivers visuals that drive global travel and tourism.” Via their blog, CrowdRiff listed the Hoosier Hospitality Promise as one of “8 Travel Brands Getting It Right Around Health and Safety Messaging.”
“The recognition and number of participants demonstrate that Indiana and the state’s restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions are putting in the necessary time and effort to keep their guests as safe as possible from COVID-19,” said Patrick Tamm, President of INRLA.
