Update on Oct. 29, 2020 crash on State Road 25 north of Logansport

On Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Cass County Central Dispatch received numerous calls of a two-vehicle crash south of CR 200 North on State Road 25. Deputy Jonathan Ousley responded to the crash along with several other deputies and public safety agencies. The assisting agencies included Cass County Fire District 1, Indiana State Police, Logansport Fire Department, Logansport Police Department, Phoenix Ambulance Service and the Cass County Coroner’s Office. Initial scene assessment found a southbound vehicle on State Road 25 crossed into the northbound lane after striking an animal in the roadway and then struck a northbound vehicle.

Jeremy Aubrey, 47, of rural Logansport, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on State Road 25 when he struck a large pig in the roadway. The pickup truck veered into the northbound lane of State Road 25 and collided with a 2010 Chevrolet HHR driven by Shane Saunders, 44, of rural Lucerne.

Phoenix Ambulance Service transported Jeremy Aubrey to Logansport Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. After extrication from his vehicle, Shane Saunders was flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne where he also succumbed to his injuries.

The Indiana State Police and Logansport Police Department dispatched crash reconstruction units to assist at the scene. State Road 25 was closed to traffic for more than three hours. The crash is still under investigation by the Cass county Sheriff’s office. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 574-753-7800.
