CASS COUNTY, IND. – Cindy Howard was sworn in as Cass County Treasurer on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020.

She made the announcement Sunday on her Facebook page, writing “I am assuming the duties of this office earlier than expected by virtue of a precinct caucus to fill the vacancy left by our most recent treasurer Kathy Adair. She retired last month after a long career in county government. I wish her well and thank her for her service.”

Howard was elected in 2018 to a four-year term as Cass County recorder, but ran for and was elected to the office of Cass County treasurer in 2020.

She says that Beth Liming, whose second term as Cass County Clerk ends Dec. 31, has been elected by the caucus to fulfill the remainder of Howard’s term as Cass County Recorder, which runs through 2022.

Destry Richey was elected to her first term as Cass County Clerk in November 2020.

Howard says the 2021 swearing in ceremony of all newly elected county officials will take place at the start of the new year with the date/time to be announced.
