November 5, 2020: 4 things to know and 7 upcoming events

Here are a few things we thought you might want to know for Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020:

Cass County remains in orange on the weekly update on the state’s COVID-19 dashboard, indicating moderate to high community spread.

State officials including the governor and the state health commissioner urged people to do the things that are known to help slow the spread of COVID-19: wearing masks, washing their hands, keeping their distance from others, as well as staying home when sick and participating in contact tracing and quarantining if exposed.

As of Tuesday, 1,897 people were hospitalized in Indiana with COVID-19.

Lewis Cass Schools announced some schedule changes due to COVID-19 here.

Little Children’s Ministry announced it has extended its closure with plans to reopen on Nov. 16.

Numbers announced Wednesday by ISDH:

Cass: 2462 (39 new cases); 26 deaths
Carroll: 422 cases (14 new cases); 13 deaths
Fulton: 463 (11 new cases); 12 deaths
Pulaski: 219 (7 new cases); 6 deaths
Miami: 833 (24 new cases); 5 deaths
Howard: 1899 (30 new cases); 69 deaths
White: 741 (30 new cases); 16 deaths


The fall installment of property taxes is due November 10, 2020. You can pay in person at the treasurer’s office in the Cass County Government Building, online at co.cass.in.us, by mail, or using the drop box on Court Street.
