Here are some updates on holiday-related closings and activities for the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s Eve/Day:
The Cass County Government Building will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Friday, January 1.
Logansport Municipal Utility offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 25. The LMU Customer Service Office will close at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020. Customer service representatives will be available via telephone at 574-753-6231 and payments will be accepted through the drop box located in the main entry way to the City Building. All Logansport Municipal Utility Offices will be closed on Friday, New Year’s Day.
Logansport Police Department’s Records Division will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 23, Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25, Thursday, Dec. 31 and Friday, Jan. 1.
The Cass County Recycling District Office will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 22 – Friday, Dec. 25 and will reopen Monday, Dec. 28.
Republic Services Friday trash routes in Logansport will be picked up on Saturday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 2.
Trash pickup for the Town of Royal Center will be delayed. Trash will be collected Saturday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, January 2.
Area Five will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Friday, January 1.
Emmaus Mission Center Shelter Office will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25, Thursday, Dec. 31 and Friday, January 1. The Emmaus Food Pantry will be closed Friday, Dec. 25 and Friday, January 1. The Thrift Store will be OPEN Thursday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 31 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Cass Transit will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day. The City Bus will not be running on those days.
The Logansport Library will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 and December 31 and January 1.
Post Office locations nationwide will be closed on Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25, 2020 and New Year’s Day, Friday, Jan. 1, 2021. All Post Office locations will be open after the holidays, and regular mail delivery will resume Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. A sign on the door at Logansport’s Post Office says it will close at noon on Thursday, Dec. 24.
All BMV branches will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday, resuming normal business hours on Saturday, Dec. 26. Branches will also be closed on Friday, Jan. 1 for News Years Day, resuming normal business hours on Saturday, Jan. 2.

DATES TO REMEMBER:
The Winter Solstice occurs on Dec. 21.
Hanukkah began the evening of Thursday, Dec. 10 and ended the evening of Friday, Dec. 18, 2020.
Christmas Eve is Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Christmas Day is Wednesday, Dec. 25.
Kwanzaa is celebrated from Saturday, Dec. 26 to Friday, January 1.
New Year’s Eve is Thursday, Dec. 31 and New Year’s Day is Friday, January 1.
Three Kings’ Day, or Epiphany, is Monday, Jan. 6.
