Here are a few things we thought you might want to know for Monday, Dec. 7, 2020:

Today is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day and flags are at half-staff in observance.

The National Park Service (NPS) and the United States Navy will host the 79th National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day commemoration to honor the American lives lost during the attack on Pearl Harbor and the island of O`ahu on December 7, 1941.

The event will be livestreamed on the Pearl Harbor National Memorial Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/PearlHarborNPS/) and at pearlharborevents.com beginning at 12:55 p.m. EST.

The local ceremony organized by the Cass County Veterans Council has been cancelled due to COVID-19.


Cass Area Transit’s “on-demand” service will be suspended from Monday, December 7 until Monday, December 21, 2020.

UPDATE: As of the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 7, Cass Transit says they plan to be operating the on-demand service again on Friday, Dec. 11.

The closing affects Cass Transit’s office staff only.

Cass Transit will continue to provide service to those who have pre-scheduled daily trips.

The City Bus will continue to run its normal schedule (available here).

The only change will be that from Dec. 7-21, 2020, there will be no call-in service available.

As of noon on Sunday, Dec. 6, the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus is 381,617. A total of 5,944 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19.

267 cases and 1 death have been reported in Cass County in December, bringing the total to date as of Sunday to 3,382 cases and 32 deaths.

Cass County has a 7-day positivity rate of 11.5%.

As Saturday, Dec. 5, there were 3189 COVID-19 patients hospitalized statewide and 166 in the 9-county ISDH district that includes Cass County.

In ISDH District 4, 15.5% of the 71 ICU beds were available, with 52.1% in use for COVID patients and 32.4% in use for non-COVID patients.

The Cass County Commissioners will meet today at 1 p.m. and the Logansport City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Find the agenda for the Commissioners meeting here and the City Council meeting here.


This year, instead of holding a one-night event, Logan’s Landing is encouraging shoppers to visit downtown Logansport throughout the holiday season. Downtown merchants have shared information about what they’re offering this season, and Logan’s Landing has compiled a list on their website.
