Year-end figures released at the January 2021 Cass County Community Foundation board meeting reported the Foundation’s total assets to be over $28 million, up from $26.8 at the end of 2019. Over 91% of the foundation’s assets are permanent endowments which will benefit the community forever. Established in 1993, the foundation has provided grants to support Cass County non-profit organizations and scholarships to over 1,330 Cass County students since incorporating as a single county entity in 2001 totaling over $12.3 million.
The Cass County Community Foundation also announced officers for 2021. Elected officers for 2021 are: Board Chairman, Lisa Swaim; Vice Chairman, Tim Rich; Treasurer, Molly Long; Secretary, Suzanne Chilcott; and Past Chairman, Mike Montgomery.
The officers will be joined by new board members, Kathlene Maughmer and Luke Gangloff. Returning board members include Lucy Burns, Mike Englert, Carol Sue Hayworth, Paul Kroeger, Dan Layman, Barrie McClain, Bud Reed, Sue Ridlen, and Kory Wilson.
