The CDHHE launched a mobile unit equipped with a sound-booth and audiology equipment for hearing testing and troubleshooting hearing technology. The first stop for the mobile unit is scheduled for February 23 at Franklin Elementary School. Whitney Grimes, teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing students at Logansport Schools, coordinated with the CDHHE to bring the mobile unit to Logansport. The mobile unit will provide follow up hearing evaluations for students who have failed school screenings.

“This is a great opportunity for our students of the Logansport Community Schools to be able to receive this additional service. Many of our families cannot make the trip to Indianapolis easily, so this gives them the opportunity,” said Grimes.

The mobile unit visit at Franklin Elementary is the first stop for the unit in the state. In the future, the unit will make two more visits to Logansport to follow up with students from the other LCSC elementary schools
