Playground installation taking place at Spencer Park

Last Updated on March 13, 2021 by Logansport Parks and Recreation Department

The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department has announced that the playground at the north end of Spencer Park is now being installed.

The new playground structure will be the first its kind in Logansport. It is called the “Spider Climber”, and the structure is made entirely of cables encased in rope fibers to create a net-like play structure. Musical chimes will also be part of the new playground. This new climbing structure helps children from 5-12 years of age with decision-making skills, and supports positive risk-taking. The Spider Climber is constructed of durable, recyclable, low maintenance materials, and is fully compliant with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.

Construction fencing around the structure indicates that it is not ready for public use. It is essential that children not climb on it until the fencing has been removed. The goal is to have the Spider Climber ready for children to play on by Spring Break, March 20.
