The Street Department has begun sweeping the streets of Logansport.
The temperature must be above freezing in order for the sweeper to run so the water lines do not freeze and cause damage to the equipment.
The first pass through town will take approximately 2 and a half months to complete as the sweeper only goes an average of 3mph and there are 100 miles of streets and two sides to each street.
Last year the sweeper picked up over 600 tons between March 4thand May 22nd.The year before that it picked up over 800 tons.
This time frame is only approximate because if it is below freezing or it is raining or snowing the equipment cannot be used.
